Cosmetics companies have been accused of making exaggerated claims for magic ingredients in their shampoos.

British hair experts poured scorn on the idea much-hyped ingredients such as Nutrileum, Quaternium, Pro-vitamins and Duo Keratins are really miracle cures for dull, lifeless hair. They said the products were all so similar that customers might as well choose the nearest brand to hand.

Institute of Trichologists deputy chairman Frank Cunningham said many of the marketing phrases had little meaning. “The effect of these ingredients is often negligible. Shampoos are cleansing agents and the added ingredients are just supposed to lessen the effect of the detergents in them.

Nutrileum is a name L’Oreal has conjured up for an oil-based substance that smoothes the outer part of the hair. Vitamin B5 is another example. It thickens the hair, but the maximum effect is 10% and that is only for people whose outside layer is damaged.”

I wanted to share with you my experience with the A’kin ® Body Wash, Shampoo and Conditioner.

The Lavender Body Wash was a treat to my senses. Every time I bathed, my shower became an aromatherapy treatment and allowed me to relax and slip into a restorative sleep. I especially enjoyed the fragrant lather and the feeling on my skin.

I found the Rosemary shampoo to be an effective and gentle hair cleanser leaving my hair and scalp feeling clean, soft and refreshed. I especially enjoyed the creamy texture of the avocado & calendula conditioner. My hair tends to be dried and over-processed due to coloring and blow drying, but this fantastic product moisturized my hair leaving it feeling silky soft, smooth and easy to manage.
